KUWAIT: The eighth Ramadan disabled games kicked off Saturday night, organized by Kuwait Disabled Sports Club that includes wheelchair basketball, table tennis, fencing and bocce, with the participation of a large number of players of both genders and will continue for three days. Competitions of the first day resulted in Kuwait team defeating Al-Ittihad with the score of 54-52 in the opening basketball match, following a strong and tough match.

The tournament also includes Al-Noukhatha team. Abdallah Al-Haddad won first place in the flores fencing for the general category, followed by Faisal Al-Kandary. In the juniors category, Suleiman Al-Tamimi was first, followed by Abdalah Al-Khaldi. In the table tennis preliminaries for the individual standing and setting categories, in addition to the bocce for the BC1 and BC2 were held later.

Al-Ittihad and national teams wheelchair basketball player Nizar Ramadan said today’s match which his team lost by two points was very strong and highly competitive. He said he will work along with his teammates on adjusting to the situation and deal with the mistakes during their next match against Al-Noukhatha. Nizar Ramadan said local games have much importance because they contribute to the discovery of new skills in most games, and this reflects positively on the national teams. He thanked the club’s board of directors under the chairmanship of Shaafi Al-Hajiri for organizing this tournament.
