Expats cannot join cooperatives’ funds

KUWAIT: There is no plan to allow expatriates to join cooperative societies’ shareholding funds, a senior official of the Ministry of Social Affairs and Work said yesterday.

Dismissing relevant reports, the Ministry’s Undersecretary Matar Al-Muteiri said in a press release: “Such media reports are inaccurate and there is not any move by the ministry in this regard.” He added that cooperative societies dot not need to take such a step, mostly because they already post growth in sales and profits. —KUNA
