KUWAIT: Following a court decision in the Philippines that does not recognize the GAMCA system for testing expat labor, health ministry sources expressed fear that Filipino laborers infected with infectious diseases such as tuberculosis and AIDS may arrive in the country.

Sources said this ruling will lead to the Philippines government to consider the GAMCA entity illegal in the country, adding that the ruling will affect the accuracy of medical testing of workers before coming to Kuwait, especially since domestic help offices and all agencies that bring workers from Philippines deal with expat labor testing centers there.

The sources said this will increase the burden on local health centers in GCC countries, which will be solely responsible for discovering cases. - Al-Jarida
