Blaze at Amghara warehouse

KUWAIT: Firemen fight a fire at an Amghara warehouse. — KUNA

KUWAIT: Fire broke in a school for boys and a hallway ceiling partially collapsed in another school for girls yesterday, with no report of casualties, Minister of Education Mohammad Al-Fares said yesterday. He told KUNA as he was touring these schools to find the cause of the accidents, adding that students were fine and examinations went ahead as normal.

When the fire broke out in the administration offices at Farhan Al-Khaled High School for Boys in Bayan, the fire department was immediately notified. An investigation was opened to find the cause of the fire. Meanwhile, the ceiling which partially collapsed at Latifa Al-Fares High School for Girls in Fahaheel did not result in any casualties nor did it interrupt the examinations. The minister promised to follow up on these two incidents and swiftly request repairing the damage.

Separately, Kuwait Fire Service Directorate (KFSD) put out a fire that broke out at an electric equipment warehouse in Amghara yesterday.  The firemen were able to prevent the blaze from spreading to nearby buildings, head of KFSD's Public Relations Department Khalil Al-Amir told KUNA. He added that two firemen were injured at the site. Amir noted that a thorough investigation to determine the cause of the fire was underway, adding that the affected warehouse is spread over 5,000 sq m. - KUNA
