KUWAIT: Kuwait Fire Service Directorate yesterday sealed a hotel in Salmiya apparently over fire safety concerns. Deputy Director General for Prevention Sector Affairs Brig Khalid Abdallah Fahad said that the hotel was closed at the instruction of Director General Lt General Khalid Al-Mikrad, who insisted that the buildings should be safe for people and that the law must be applicable to all.

Terrorism 'main threat'

Deputy Premier and Interior Minister Sheikh Khaled Al-Jarrah Al-Sabah returned home yesterday from Tunis after participating in the 34th meeting of the Arab Interior Ministers Council. "Terrorism is the main threat to Arab peoples, it must be confronted and its swamps drained" Sheikh Khaled said in Tunis. His remarks came during a speech at the launch of the 34th meeting of Arab Interior Ministers' Council, where he also called for adopting a unified strategy to protect children in the Arab world from online and social media dangers.

Passport office

Residency Affairs Department said the Capital Residency Affairs will shift its offices from Shuwaikh area to the old Hawally passports building from April 16 until the new building is ready for functioning.

MoI workshop

The workshop on 'preparing security plans' which was held from April 2 to April 6 was concluded yesterday. 17 Interior ministry officers participated in the workshop. The closing ceremony was held under the patronage of Director General of Coordination of Command Operations to protect Internal Security Maj Gen Dr Mohammad Al-Daihani.

New rank

Deputy Premier and Interior Minister Sheikh Khaled Al-Jarrah Al-Sabah decorated Maj General Mahmoud Al-Dousary with his new rank of Lt General, according to a decree approved by HH the Amir appointing him as the Interior Ministry Undersecretary.
