KUWAIT: Flames engulf an old-style house in Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh.

KUWAIT: Firemen
had a busy holiday as they battled a string of fires reported around Kuwait
during Eid Al-Adha. In Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh, firemen put out a blaze in an
old-style house which was used to store carpets, furniture, tents and foam.
Ardiya, Jleeb, Mishref and backup fire stations responded. An Asian man
suffered fractures as he jumped from the roof of the house and was taken to
hospital by paramedics. Firemen faced difficulties tackling the blaze due to
narrow passages and parked vehicles.

In the meantime,
firemen dealt with a blaze reported at a private hospital under construction in
Mahboula, Kuwait Fire Service Directorate (KFSD) said in a press statement.
Firemen from the Mangaf, Fahaheel, Bidaa, operations and backup fire stations
were at the scene. The fire was on the second floor in construction material.
The flames were put out as investigations began to find out the cause of the
blaze. Separately, Jleeb fire station men put out a blaze in four parked
vehicles in a sandy open area. No injuries were reported. Meanwhile, Hawally
and Salmiya fire stations responded to a call about a fire in a house in Shaab.
The fire was put out with no injuries.

In other news,
the Medical Emergencies Department received 1,462 calls during the holiday,
while 1,158 urgent cases were transferred to hospitals and nearby stations and
303 cases were treated onsite. All incidents varied between road accidents,
fights, burns and cuts. Meanwhile, 263 non-urgent cases were transferred to
hospital, making up a total of 1,472 cases that were dealt with during the Eid
holiday. Also, six cases were medevacked between Saturday and Tuesday.
