Firemen battle the Shuwaikh blaze.

KUWAIT: Fire teams dealt with several accidents reported over the weekend, including a report about an elevator inside a Mubarakiya restaurant that malfunctioned and trapped a number of people inside. Firemen lowered the elevator then freed those trapped. No injuries were reported.

Meanwhile, Sulaibkhat and technical rescue teams responded to the scene of a traffic accident involving a vehicle and a truck on Fifth Ring Road. Trapped individuals in the vehicle were freed and handed to emergency medical technicians.

In the meantime, Hawally and Salmiya firemen battled a blaze reported in the basement of a Hawally building consisting of six floors. The building's residents were evacuated before the fire was extinguished. No injuries were reported, and an investigation was opened to reveal the cause of the fire.

Separately, Industrial Shuwaikh, Shuhada, Ardhiya, back up and Madina fire stations responded to a call about a blaze that started in a 700-square-meter building in Shuwaikh consisting of three floors, and divided into several shops including a carpenter. The fire was put out and kept from spreading further. No injuries were reported, and a case was filed for investigations.
