LPG cylinders
Director of Hawally governorate’s prevention sector Brig Khalid A Fahd said Kuwait Fire Service Directorate (KFSD) has set certain specifications for vehicles transporting liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), adding that the directorate held several meetings in this regard with concerned parties including Kuwait Oil Tankers Company. This decision was made following several accidents that took place in neighboring countries, so it was necessary to boost preventive measures on vehicles and ban their transport in commercial quantities without obtaining a prior license from KFSD.
Fahd mentioned some of the conditions that must be met by vehicles transporting LPG cylinders:
1- The vehicle must use diesel fuel.
2- The bed must be closed from the sides, back and top, with metal barriers that guarantee natural aeration of the bed.
3- The floor of the bed must be of compressed wood or any other strong insulation material.
4- Cylinders must not be stacked on top of each other. Also, no other materials should be placed on top.
Acting Director General of KFSD Maj Gen Khalid Al-Mikrad said HH the Prime Minister gave instructions to send Capt Fahd Al-Mukaimi from Hawally fire center for treatment abroad as he sustained a fractured pelvis on Saturday while dealing with a fire in a Hawally building.
