KUWAIT: Kuwait Fire Force's Maritime Rescue Department men managed to retrieve the dead body of a child who was swept up at the shores of the Arabian Gulf besides the Kuwait Towers after a week-long search. The body of the child, who had been missing after a sailing expedition at sea with his father, was recovered after its whereabouts was reported to authorities.

Kuwait Fire Force chief Lt Gen Khaled Al-Mekrad extended his sincere condolences to the family of the deceased child, who had drowned after being in the company of his father, who suffered a similar fate. Sea goers were urged to adhere to safety guidelines at sea, namely to closely monitor weather conditions, ensure that the vessel and navigation systems are in full working order and to maintain a means of communication with authorities in the event of an emergency.

Suspected suicide
Firemen recovered the body of a woman hanging from a tree in a sandy yard near Sabahiya overlooking King Fahad Road, in a suspected suicide case. Technical rescue personnel were called in as special equipment was used to retrieve the body, which was handed to forensics.

Khaitan fire
Kuwait Fire Force said Farwaniya and Subhan fire stations responded to a call about a fire in Khaitan. The blaze was on the sixth floor of a building, which was evacuated before the fire was put out.

Ex-felon rearrested
Security men arrested a Kuwaiti who was recently released from prison after he stormed a woman's house in Hawally, tied her up and shaved her hair. He then stole her car and phone before escaping, Al-Anbaa Arabic daily reported. A security source said the citizen was arrested in Farwaniya and confessed to committing the crime, saying the woman "destroyed his future and sent him to prison."
