KUWAIT: Capital police arrested four Asian nationals begging in the vicinity of Yarmouk Co-op Society. In addition, a Jordanian woman in Kuwait on a visit visa was arrested at Ardhiya Co-op Society. The arrests came during ongoing crackdowns on begging during Ramadan, the Interior Ministry's Relations and Security Department said. It added that all suspects were referred to relevant authorities pending summoning their sponsors, who will be held legally accountable by banning them from sponsoring any further people, while the beggars are deported.

Food safety campaign

As part of Kuwait Municipality's ongoing food safety campaign during Ramadan, the Capital inspection team inspected a large number of stores, butcheries and grocery shops yesterday. The team filed 30 citations against peddlers, seven citations for unlicensed food transport vehicles, confiscated two tons of expired food items, closed down three butcheries and two stores, removed two unlicensed grocery stores and inspected five food preparation centers. The team also removed 95 illegal ads.
