KUWAIT: First Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah discussed yesterday with visiting Secretary-General of the United Nations Ban Ki-moon Kuwait's ties with the UN and the latest developments on intra-Yemeni talks being hosted by Kuwait.

During the meeting which was attended by the special envoy of the Secretary-General of the United Nations to Yemen Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed, the Kuwaiti Minister extolled Ban Ki-moon's efforts on at regional and international levels, and his support for security and stability in the region to meet challenges at all levels.

Meanwhile, the UN Secretary General emphasized the important role played by Kuwait at the international level. He also praised the prominent contributions of Kuwait in support of the United Nations' humanitarian and development work and activities around the world. The meeting was attended by a number of senior Foreign Ministry officials.

Ban Ki-moon had earlier met with His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah received at Seif Palace, in attendance of Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled. During the meeting, they discussed issues of mutual interest as well as the latest regional and international developments. The meeting was attended by Kuwait's Permanent Representative to the UN Ambassador Mansour Ayyad Al-Otaibi, and Deputy Assistant Foreign Minister for International Organizations Nasser Mohareb Al-Heen. The UN Secretary-General arrived to Kuwait yesterday in a one-day visit as part of his Middle East tour, during which he met with His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah. - KUNA
