KUWAIT: Former MP and fifth constituency candidate Abdullah Ibrahim Al-Tamimi criticized what he described as violations committed during the parliamentary elections. He added that along with his legal team, he was considering contesting the election results at the constitutional court. He also urged the interior and the justice ministers to investigate what took place during the poll count. Meanwhile, former MP and fourth constituency candidate Dr Hussein Al-Qowaian also intends to contest the election results at the constitutional court.

Son-in-law stabbed

A citizen was arrested for attempting to stab his son-in-law at the Ahmadi court. The man accused his son-in-law of 'stalling' procedures to divorce his daughter. He also accused him of verbal assault. Meanwhile, a citizen who had been indicted of murder in a case that took place at 360 mall, and sentenced to 10 years in prison was yesterday acquitted by the court of appeal. Separately, the court of appeal yesterday rejected the first instance court's contests of decisions made by the speaker of the house on appointing three citizens at the National Assembly.

PhD degrees

Lawyer Khaled Al-Qahtani announced that the court of appeals yesterday cancelled Education Minister Bader Al-Essa's decision banning studying for masters and PhD degrees in law abroad. Notably, Essa had refused to accredit these degrees of postgraduate students who had studied abroad.
