KUWAIT: Four workers were injured when the roof of a mosque under construction collapsed yesterday. Firefighters arrived to the scene located in Qairawan shortly after the incident was reported. They rescued the workers and handed them over to paramedics who transported them to the nearest medical facility. An investigation was opened.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs stressed that the mosque was still under construction, that it was being built by a donor and that it was not yet handed over to it. Ahmed Al-Qarawi, the Awqaf ministry's official spokesperson and director of its media department, said on that regard that the ministry was following up the latest news about the mosque and that the engineering affairs department at the mosques' sector was asked to prepare a detailed report about the incident to determine the cause of the collapse.

Fugitives caught

Weapons detectives launched a campaign in Kabd area that resulted in the arrest of a citizen and a bedoon for possession of drugs and paraphernalia. Meanwhile, a citizen was arrested with possession of an unlicensed 9mm pistol and ammunition. Meanwhile, police arrested a Syrian national wanted for defaulting on a KD 46,000 payment. Police arrested another Syrian national wanted to serve an 11 years in prison sentence over bad checks. Furthermore, police found a hyena in an animal's pen that was searched during the campaign. The animal was secured and transported to Kuwait Zoo, while orders were given to summon the pen's owner for questioning. In another case, Jahra police arrested three fugitives, bedoons, and found a shotgun with one of them.

No injuries in fire

A fire broke out in a Sabah Al-Nasser house yesterday. Firefighters from two different fire stations headed to the scene after the fire was reported. They discovered that there was a child and a domestic helpers trapped behind flames in a basement where the fire started. They evacuated the two before putting out the fire. No injuries were reported.
