German inflation soars to 10.0% in September: data

Frankfurt: German inflation accelerated sharply in September on the back of rocketing energy prices, official data showed Thursday, heaping fresh pressure on consumers in Europe's top economy.

Consumer prices rose by 10.0 percent compared to the same month a year earlier, according to preliminary data from the federal statistics agency Destatis. In August, the figure was 7.9 percent.
