Marzouq Al-Ghanem

KUWAIT: National Assembly Speaker Marzouq Al-Ghanem yesterday said the credit of the lifting of a three-year suspension on Kuwaiti sports should go to HH the Amir, HH the Prime Minister, the government and specifically the defense minister, in addition to the commerce and information ministers. He however blasted those who caused the suspension in the first place and charged they were still trying to re-impose the sanctions on Kuwaiti sports. International sports bodies had suspended Kuwaiti sports due to alleged government interference in the sports movement.

Meanwhile, MP Mohammad Al-Dallal proposed yesterday the formation of a crisis team from the interior, commerce and social affairs and labor ministries to resolve what he called a maid problem in Kuwait. The lawmaker charged that influential people who own private offices for the recruitment of maids have refused to implement decisions by the government to limit the cost of recruitment, but those offices have failed to observe the set prices. He said the crisis team should confront those owners and other pressure groups that are benefiting from the high cost of domestic helpers.
