Plan to hold an international economic forum in Kuwait

KUWAIT: A number of international financial institutes affirmed the uniqueness of Kuwait's economic status, said Chairman of the Kuwait Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) Ali Mohammad Thunayan Al-Ghanem yesterday. After a meeting between His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and Minister of Commerce and Industry and Minister of State for Youth Affairs Khaled Al-Roudhan at Seif Palace, Ghanem said that most Kuwaiti banks as well as economic and shareholding companies have gained regional and international recognition due to their efforts.

Based on this fact, the KCCI, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, and foreign investment authorities are eager to hold an international economic forum in Kuwait to display the economic and financial opportunities in the country. With new laws and decrees, Kuwaiti economy will be more receptive for foreign investors, said the KCCI chairman who affirmed that Kuwait's top authorities were in favor of holding the forum.

The event, scheduled for next year, will be attended by His Highness the Amir and will be held under his auspices, said Ghanem. Meanwhile Roudhan said that the forum, proposed for March of next year would be very beneficial for Kuwaiti economy. His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah has informed us on the necessity of transforming Kuwait to a regional and international hub for business and economy, said Roudhan who affirmed that the forum would be geared toward such goal. - KUNA
