
KUWAIT: The 32nd Gulf Traffic Week is an unequivocal sign of pan-GCC coordination, progress and prosperity, said a senior security official.
While welcoming visiting Gulf delegations, Assistant Undersecretary of the Interior Ministry for Traffic Major General Abdullah Al-Muhanna said yesterday that the ministry attaches much attention to the traffic issue due to its paramount significance to the entire society.
This year’s traffic week features several activities and events pertinent to road safety and protection which is mainly based on the avoidance of traffic violations, he was quoted in a statement by the ministry’s information office. Muhanna emphasized that traffic safety regulations and laws should be observed in order to keep the safety of road users. Meanwhile, the chief of the ministry’s public relations and security media Brigadier Adel Al-Hashash said the Gulf Traffic Week reflects integration among the GCC countries, urging motorists to respect traffic rules so as to avoid road accidents. He said his department works with other bodies at the ministry in order to promote sound traffic behaviors. —KUNA
