KUWAIT: Kuwait Sports Club rider Rakan Al-Hasawi won the Messila Club horse jumping championship, the third local championship for the 2022-2023 season, following strong competition from other riders in the main race, at a height of 130 cm with 74.97 seconds without penalties. Masayel Club rider Abdullah Al-Awadhi won the second and third places, followed by Latifa Al-Hajeri and Abdulrahman Al-Fuzaei. Chairman of Messila Club Bader Tariq Al-Mailam and Chairman of Sakab Club Mohammad Al-Mailam handed the winners their awards.

In the 120cm event, golden era rider Nadia Al-Mutawa stood first, while Suleiman Al-Roumi won the 110cm event and rider Abdulaziz Al-Othainah won the 100cm event. The officiating committee was headed by Nidar Al-Mustafa. The committee included Raghad Al-Dabbous and Lama Abdelal. Rider Fuzaei designed the path with the help of Ghadeer Nimati and Dr Yahya Al-Hadban.

"The third local championship witnessed strong competition between all riders in all stages, while it became obvious parents are more understanding and provided the riders with strong horses to compete," Mailam said. Rider Rakan Al-Hasawi was happy with his win, adding his ambition is to qualify for the Olympics and win a medal. Hasawi dedicated his win to his mother Shurooq Al-Khalfan for her unlimited support in providing him with international horses, in addition to sending him to training camps in Europe.
