KUWAIT: Information Minister, State Minister for Youth Affairs Sheikh Salman Sabah Al- Salem Al-Humoud Al-Sabah represented HH the Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al- Jaber Al-Sabah at the closing ceremony of Crown Prince Annual Shooting Tournament which came to conclusion on Saturday evening.

The closing ceremony was also attended by President of Arab and Kuwait Shooting Federations Eng. Duaij Khalaf Al-Otaibi, Deputy Chairman of Kuwait Shooting Sport Club Mohammad Mustafa Karam, Arab and Kuwait Shooting Federations Secretary General Obaid Munahi Al-Osaimi, KSSC Treasures Essa Butaiban, Assistant Secretary Eng. Mohammad Al-Ghurba, Assistant Treasurer Adnan Al-Ibrahim and Board members Dr. Nedal Al-Asem and Eng Hussam Al- Roumi.

In his closing speech Eng. Duaij Al-Otaibi welcomed those present, adding that shooting club looks forward to organize this tournament annually which is dear to all Kuwait shooters, adding that this year’s tournament saw the participation of shooters from Bahrain and UAE along with the club, National Guard, Police and military shooters as the number of participants reached over 300 competing in the Olympic shotgun, rifle, pistol and archery.

He added that the tournament saw strong competition from all shooters who were seeking to win as it carries a dear name to all shooters and opens the shooting sport’s season. Eng. Al-Otaibi said the distinguished achievements made by Kuwait shooting by Kuwait’s Olympic wins by Double Trap Shooter Fuhaid Al-Daihani and Skeet Shooter Abdallah Al-Rashidi during the Rio de Janeiro 2016 Olympics contributed to adding to achievements made by Kuwait in various fields. He said Kuwait shooting once again appreciates the great support of HH the Amir, HH the crown Prince and HH the Prime Minister to the athletes in general and shooters in particular.

Representative of HH the Crown Prince then distributed winners cups and prizes as follows

Zaid Dakil Al-Mutairi in the skeet event

Tami Al-Rashidi in Trap,

Hamad Al-Afasi in the double Trap,

Sheikha Al-Rashidi in the women skeet,

Sarah al-Hawal in the women trap,

Ali Saad Al-Mutairi in the 10m air pistol,

Abdallah Al-Harby in the 10m air rifle,

Khalid Al-Subaie in the 50m rifle,

Abdallah Al-Harby in the three position 50 m rifle,

Hamad Al-Namshan in the 50 m pistol,

Heba Erzouqi in the 10m women air rifle,

Israa Bahman in the 10m women air pistol,

Bader al-Mutairi in the Olympic archery,

Ahmad Al-Shatti in the compound archery

and Shaheen Kiti in the junior’s Olympic archery.

Sheikh Salman Sabah Al-Salem Al-Humoud Al-Sabah said following the ceremony said he was honored to represent HH the crown prince Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al- Sabah at the closing ceremony of this annual tournament. He said the shooting club is one of the clubs that overcame hurdles and difficulties in Olympic and international events, and HH the Crown Prince paternal care resulted in making the achievements that placed Kuwait’s name in prominence . Sheikh Salman thanked the club for the good organization and the success of introducing juniors who are the future of any sport including shooting, and we hope that they develop their plans and programs to continue their winning ways. He said a decision was taken in this regard at the Public Authority for Sports to support KSSC and the disabled club so that they become an example for the rest of sports entities
