KUWAIT: Indian Ambassador Sibi George expressed gratitude to Kuwaiti media for its support over the past two years as he marked the end of his tenure on Sunday. "Such support and discussions have been pivotal to his success in his mission to strengthen friendly ties between India and Kuwait, and provide optimal assistance to the Indian community," the Ambassador said.

The ambassador gave his formal departure speech at a ceremony held by the media in the presence of the Dean of the Diplomatic Corps, Ambassador of Tajikistan Dr Zabidullah Zabidov, the Dean of Asia, the Ambassador of Uzbekistan, Dr Bahrom Aliyov, the Dean of the African Ambassador to Togo, Mohamed Saad Oro, and the Dean of the Americas Ambassador to Mexico, Miguel Angel Isidro.

"An excellent relationship has been built with the diplomatic corps, and with the Kuwaiti media. I'm thankful that I was able to accomplish everything I worked for," he said, while also pledging to follow news about Kuwait through the local journalists.

Ambassador George also said that the coronavirus pandemic further strengthened and deepened India's relations. "I will miss many wonderful things in Kuwait that one cannot find anywhere else, starting with the diwaniyas," the ambassador said, pointing out that being invited to dinners in Kuwait will tempt one to feast on a diverse palette of dishes from all over the world.

"I will also miss the interdependence of families between Kuwait and India, because regardless of status, most families in Kuwait have had contact with India for decades. You do not find this strong relationship in many places around the world," he concluded.
