Jleeb building evacuated after fire

KUWAIT: A fire broke in a third floor apartment in Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh yesterday, said security sources, noting that firemen from Jleeb and Ardhiya rushed to the scene where they managed to evacuate the entire building and deal with the blaze. No casualties were reported. Meanwhile, a vehicle caught fire while it was parked in an open yard in Khaiatn, said security sources, noting that firemen rushed to the scene and managed to control the flames before spreading to other vehicles parked nearby.

Int’l day against drugs
Under auspices of Interior Ministry’s Undersecretary Lt Gen Essam Al-Nahham and the attendance of the assistant undersecretary for criminal security affairs Maj Gen Khaled Al-Deyyeen, the ministry launched yesterday a two-day celebration to commemorate the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, which falls on June 26. With the aim of boosting public awareness, the ceremony was held at the Avenues Mall in collaboration with the ministry’s public relations and security media, the criminal evidence department, the drug control general department, the juvenile care department, in addition to the awqaf and health ministries. Speaking on the occasion, Deyyeen stressed the significance of combining all efforts to fight the criminal, social and economic impacts of drugs.
