KUWAIT: Kuwait Disabled Sports Club (KDSC) celebrated the annual disabled day by launching a festival carrying the name “you are our pride”, Saturday evening at the club premises, in appreciation of Kuwaiti athletes who carried Kuwait flag high in world arenas be them disabled or healthy.

The festival is under the patronage of Information Minister, State Minister for Youth Affairs Sheikh Salman Sabah Al-Salem Al-Humoud Al-Sabah and continues until December 6.

The festival includes the local sports tournament in various games of the disabled, and will continue for three days. Vice President of Kuwait Olympic Committee, President of Kuwait and Arab Shooting Federations Eng. Duaij Khalaf Al-Otaibi who represented Sheikh Salman lauded the KDSC achievements, the latest of which Ahmad Niqa’s gold medal in the Brazil Olympics last September. Al-Otaibi said KOC had distinguished relations with KDSC which supervises Paralympics games to advance Kuwait sports and make more achievements. He said he was honored to represent Sheikh Salman Al-Humoud in this activity which coincides with Kuwait’s celebration of the International Disabled Day.

Meanwhile President of KDSC Shafi Al-Hajiri said what Kuwait disabled and healthy champions in all sports fields is a call for pride, adding that this festival is dedicated for them in appreciation of their efforts that had Kuwait’s name and flag high in International arenas.

Al-Hajiri said the club won 50 various Olympic medals and more than 2,200 medals in various championships, and printed to Ahmad Niqa’s achievement in the disabled sports, as well as shooting champions Fuhaid Al- Daihani and Abdallah Al-Rashida in Rio. He said Kuwait Champions achievements were not to happen without the support and continued care from HH the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and HH the Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al- Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.
