local1KUWAIT: Facilities, offices, and houses belonging to the Kuwait Oil Company (KOC) saved around 25 percent of electric power last summer through the usage of LED technology, said an official yesterday. On the sideline of an event aimed to promote clean energy with EnerTech Holding Company, Senior electrical engineer at KOC Adel Al-Enaizi said that KOC aimed at conserving the use of electrical power as part of its social responsibility towards the environment.

He revealed that KOC had launched a project in the new Ahmadi city to promote environment-friendly buildings in the area, revealing the desire to construct 180 new houses in this city which will all be "green". KOC's operations had also lessened carbon emission by around one percent, said the official.

On her part, Business Development Manager at Enertech Marwah Abul said that promoting clean energy was a crucial responsibility that will help protect future generations. She affirmed that Enertech, owned by National Technology Enterprises Company (NTEC), will work with the private and public sectors to encourage energy conservation and lessening of carbon emissions to better protect the environment. - KUNA
