KUWAIT: Kuwait Oil Tanker Company (KOTC) announced that it won the Maritime Standard award 2022 regarding education and training in the maritime industry in the Middle East and the Indian subcontinent, granted by the International Maritime Organization (IMO). In a statement Wednesday, KOTC confirmed that winning the award at a ceremony held recently in Dubai was a culmination of its efforts and its employees, noting that qualifying skills is a priority for KOTC.

KOTC was established in 1957 and is considered the first Gulf company specialized in the field of transporting oil and natural gas, being a subsidiary of Kuwait Petroleum Corporation. IMO is considered one of the most vital international bodies in evaluating the maritime industry, with high performance, especially with regards to ship management, marine industries and operation and maintenance of ships related to oil and gas transportation.

The organization grants its awards based on arbitration decisions issued by a committee consisting of a group of international arbitrators specialized in the maritime transport industry, in accordance with international standards and criteria that made it one of the most important awards in this field. - KUNA
