KUWAIT: Kuwaiti Red Crescent Society distributed 1,500 food parcels and 1,500 milk cartons to workers and residents in Al-Jahra Governorate, in cooperation with the Ministry of Interior. KRCS Director of Disaster and Emergency Management Yossef Al-Maraj said, on the sidelines of the distribution process Friday, that the society is intensifying its efforts to provide humanitarian assistance to workers and families in need inside Kuwait, particularly to those affected by the lockdown in the areas isolated by the health authorities.

Maraj added that the society distributed 1,500 food baskets and 1,500 milk cartons to workers in Jahra Governorate in cooperation and coordination with the Jahra Governorate and the Ministry of Interior. Maraj stated that the basket is enough for a full month and contains basic materials such as rice, flour, dates, oil, sugar, tea, milk, beans and pasta.

The KRCS official said that the society is doing this to limit the movement of residents and workers, in line with the preventive measures taken by the country to reduce the spread of the coronavirus. He explained that the distribution of the food baskets, milk and meals is a national duty to contribute to overcoming this crisis, noting that KRCS is working hard during this period to stand side by side with state institutions and other concerned authorities to confront this crisis. —KUNA
