KUWAIT: The safety and security administration at Kuwait University has organized, in cooperation with the general administration for civil defense, a mock evacuation drill in the Engineering and Petroleum College in the northern campus in Sabah Al-Salem University city on Wednesday.

This comes within the decision of the general secretary of the University to form a committee between KU and the general administration for civil defense to put a vision to the general evacuation administration in the University City and to train concerned teams and evacuation operators to handle calamities and emergency situations that might arise.

This comes within the university's strategy to coordinate with concerned departments in the country to put a vision and a practical procedure to deal with emergency situations by placing scenarios and performing training exercises with concerned teams.

The administration also insists on the readiness and professionalism of participating teams, as well as the cooperation of those on site, so they can adhere to instructions and to deal with the incident realistically. About 211 people were evacuated in five minutes and 12 seconds, as the evacuation period and going to the shelter took six minutes and 14 seconds for a total of 11 minutes and 26 seconds which is a record time in evacuation operations acclaimed by representatives of the civil defense administration.
