KUWAIT: Kuwait’s parliamentary committee for sports and youth affairs decided yesterday to address a message to the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) requesting temporary lift of the suspension enforced on Kuwait Football Association to enable the national team take part in forthcoming Asian Cup finals. Chairman of the commission MP Saadoun Hammad Al-Otaibi said in a statement that the committee is asking FIFA to lift the suspension on temporary basis; pending government and parliamentary endorsement of proposed amendments to the national sports laws and regulations.

The commission has received copy of a new government sports bill of 74 articles, in addition to a number of draft laws presented by members of the National Assembly (the Parliament of the State of Kuwait). Al-Otaibi added that the commission has set January 9th as the date for its next meeting and addressed an invitation to the Minister of Information, Minister of State for Youth Affairs Sheikh Salman Sabah Salem Al-Humoud Al-Sabah to attend the planned session to discuss the government and parliamentary proposals in this respect. — KUNA
