KUWAIT: His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, on behalf of Al-Sabah Family, donated KD 5 million in contribution to a recently launched fund to mitigate the fallout of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), Minister of Amiri Diwan Affairs Sheikh Ali Jarrah Al-Sabah said Wednesday. The minister prayed to Allah the Almighty that this pandemic would end not only in the dear nation but in the entire world as well, wishing Kuwait perpetual security, safety and prosperity.

His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah had met with His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah at Seif Palace on Wednesday. His Highness the Amir also received Speaker of the National Assembly Marzouq Al-Ghanem, His Highness Prime Minister Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah as well as Deputy Prime Minister, Interior Minister and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Anas Al-Saleh.

After the meeting, His Highness Prime Minister reiterated His Highness the Amir's interest in public health and his appeal for everyone's compliance with health guidelines, mainly staying indoors and averting gatherings. His Highness the Prime Minister added that His Highness the Amir is also keen on the home-return of Kuwaiti citizens from abroad, and provision of all basic needs to citizens and residents.

He added that he had briefed His Highness the Amir during the encounter on government response to the novel coronavirus. He also reaffirmed His Highness the Amir's call for cooperation with the National Assembly on pieces of legislation needed to complete all required procedures to put a nationwide emergency plan in place. - KUNA
