TUNIS: The State of Kuwait, represented by the Ministry of Interior, seeks to boost human rights in the security realm and has taken a lot of measures to enhance cooperation among all relevant authorities at this level, a visiting official has affirmed.

Colonel Abdullah Al-Ajmi, International Relations Director at the Ministry of Interior, said in a statement on the sidelines of a the third conference grouping Arab officials charged with human rights that kicked off in Tunisia yesterday, that the partaking Kuwaiti delegation shed light in its presentation on the ministry experience in boosting human rights.

Kuwait has taken tangible steps at this level, joining the UN Universal Declaration of Human Rights, enacting Law 67/2015, stipulating establishment of the National Diwan for Human Rights, in addition to cooperating with diverse regional and international agencies involved in the field.

Colonel Ajmi, moreover, indicated at the exiting cooperation between the Ministry of Interior with the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights (UNHCHR) and the International Migration Organization (IMO). Kuwaiti police officers often partake in training courses held by these international agencies.

At the Arab level, Kuwait coordinates with Arab countries in this domain, regularly participates in Arab human rights associations and organizations.  The Arab convention started earlier today, with aim of mapping out a common strategy to boost human rights in the security field in the Arab world.

Kuwait is taking part in the conference with a delegation representing the Ministry of Interior. It also includes Captain Hussein Al-Baghli, head of the Human Rights Department at the ministry. - KUNA
