ShareKUWAIT: The Kuwaiti Cabinet Monday was briefed on the strategic partnership deal signed with Google Cloud to support comprehensive digital transformation in all government and state-run bodies. This came during the Cabinet's weekly session headed by His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah at Seif Palace, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Barrak Al-Sheetan said after the session. The deal will help the Kuwaiti government benefit from Google Cloud technology and its experience in data analysis, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence and others in order to achieve digital transformation, which is a main part of Kuwait Vision 2035, Sheetan noted. This shows the Cabinet's keenness to implement what was included in the government's action program of the 17th legislative term (2022-2026), mainly in digitizing government services.
The Cabinet was informed that Google; in cooperation with the Kuwait Direct Investment Promotion Authority (KDIPA), the Central Agency for Information Technology (CAIT), and the Communications and Information Technology Regulatory Authority, intend to open an office in Kuwait and invest in establishing its own cloud area that will support government agencies in terms of digital infrastructure and management of digital business tasks. Google Cloud will also work, in cooperation with the CAIT, to launch training programs to develop digital skills for government sector's employees and others inside the State of Kuwait. The Cabinet lauded efforts made by the government concerned bodies in this regard.
The Cabinet was then briefed with topics listed on the agenda of the regular National Assembly session set for Tuesday, and the complementary one Wednesday. Furthermore, the Cabinet expressed sincere congratulations to Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammad Al-Sudani on the successful inauguration of the 25th Arabian Gulf Cup, running from January 6-19, wishing success to all teams.
On Arab and international affairs, the Cabinet expressed strong condemnation and denunciation of the extremist Zionist entity's minister's storming of Al-Aqsa Mosque, under the protection of occupation forces. The Cabinet stressed the storming act constitutes provocation of Muslims' feelings and violates relevant resolutions of international legitimacy. The act comes in light of the Israeli occupation forces' attempts aiming to change the current legal and historical status in Jerusalem and its sanctities, Sheetan elaborated. It called on the international community to take a rapid action to halt such violations committed by the Zionist entity and provide full protection to the brotherly Palestinian people and their properties, mainly in Jerusalem.
