KUWAIT: President of Kuwait and Arab Shooting Federations Duaij Khalaf Al-Otaibi said the local shooting season will open on Nov 4 with HH the Crown Prince Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah Championship in pistol, rifle, trap, skeet and Olympic archery for both genders. Otaibi said those with special needs will have a place in this tournament, which will see shooters from the club, national guard, military and police sports federation. He said shooters from the GCC are welcome in this tournament.

Otaibi said during a press conference held yesterday that the tournament was delayed until November to give shooters time to train and prepare after a long period away due to the coronavirus pandemic. He said Kuwait Shooting Federation appreciates HH the Crown Prince's sponsorship of the tournament, as this reflects his support and interest in Kuwait shooting. The sport is always making achievements around the world, the latest of which is Olympian Abdullah Al-Rashidi's second place win during the ISSF President's Cup held in Cyprus.

Meanwhile, Secretary General of Arab and Kuwait Shooting Federation Obaid Manahi Al-Osaimi said the juniors' preliminaries for this tournament will take place at the Shooting Sport Club's branch in Jahra. Osaimi said this tournament will see strong competition due to having the best shooters from Kuwait and the Gulf. He said prizes for this tournament are worthwhile due to its importance. Both Otaibi and Osaimi thanked the political leadership and the Public Authority for Sport for their support of shooting.
