KUWAIT: Foreign Minister Sheikh Salem Abdullah Al-Jaber Al-Sabah received on Sunday ranking US Representatives, led by David N Cicilline - Chairman of the House Subcommittee on Middle East, North Africa and Global Counterterrorism, now on an official visit to Kuwait. The meeting dealt with the friendly relations, the partnership and cooperation between Kuwait and the United States, which kept strengthening over the past six decades.

Sheikh Salem commended the strides made towards realization of the shared aspirations in vital areas, including economic, the cultural, the educational and security ones. The Kuwaiti minister noted that the two friendly countries work together to promote diplomatic coordination, and share experience in combating extremism and terrorism.

On their part, the US lawmakers reaffirmed the US firm commitment to the safety and security of Kuwait, and expressed gratitude for the Kuwaiti leadership, government and people for hosting the US troops. They also appreciated the humanitarian and diplomatic efforts made by Kuwait over the recent years to restore security and stability in the region. The US Representatives highlighted the need to promote economic cooperation and unlock the potentials of joint investment particularly in the field of energy.

Both sides also discussed a range of regional and international issues of common concern. The US delegation includes members of the House Committee on Foreign Affairs Joe Wilson, Susan Wild and Sara Jacobs, Member of the Committee on Homeland Security Kat Cammack, and Member of the Committee on Veterans' Affairs Amata Coleman Radewagen. - KUNA
