local3KUWAIT: Tanzanian President Jakaya Mrisho Kikwete has expressed gratitude to Kuwait for its support and expressed hope such backing for his nation would continue. Speaking at a ceremony marking opening of a main road in Tanzania, the president expressed gratitude to His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah for Kuwait's contributions to constructing the key road.

Tanzanian Minister of Transport John Magufuli also thanked Kuwait hoping to maintain the cooperation with the Gulf country, namely Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development (KFAED) which had lent the nation $47.7 million for the mega project. KFAED's regional director for central and southern African states, Abdulrahman Al-Hashel, was present at the ceremony, the Kuwaiti ambassador Jassem Al-Najem, said in a statement. KFAED gave the loan to Tanzania in 1975. The fund's ventures in African country have reached 12, worth USD 205 billion, in addition to some technical aid. - KUNA
