KUWAIT: Information Minister, State Minister for Youth Affairs Sheikh Salman Sabah Al-Salem Al-Humoud Al-Sabah hailed the achievements of Kuwait Handicapped Athletics national team during the championships of Fazza International, Asia, Oceania and Sharqa International meetings that was held recently, and they won 32 various medals, and congratulated them on this outstanding achievement.

Sheikh Salman told journalists, after receiving athletes Monday evening, the state is keen on supporting the handicapped for more achievement and had shown that when it ordered the building of new sports complex in the coming future, adding that it will be world class.

Sheikh Salman said the outstanding work of the Handicapped Club Board of Directors, headed by Shafi Al-Hajiri, who contributed to improving the result of national teams abroad, and hoped that Kuwait national teams continue to win through cooperation between all athletes to boost Kuwait sports reputation.

Meanwhile, Kuwait's Handicapped Club Chairman of the Board, Head of the Delegation Shafi Al-Hajiri said achievement of this amount of medals, 10 gold, 14 silver, 8 bronze in the three championships, which were strong with the participation of more than 1,200 athletes, is evidence on the outstanding handicapped and the strong determination they have.

Al-Hajiri said those championships is a true start for the club's preparations to participate in the Reo De Janeiro Paralympics in September, bearing in mind that 12 players already qualified.

He said, the club, with the distinguished cooperation of the sports public authority to prepare the players to win more titles during tournaments abroad. He thanked Sheikh Salman and authority officials for their major support of Kuwait Handicapped Sports.

PAS Deputy Director General Dr Humoud Fulaiteh congratulated the KHSC athletes for their achievements. He said PAS is keen on supporting the club and remove all obstacles they face in order to achieve more wins. He said the reception of Sheikh Salman of the delegation is evidence on the state's support of its outstanding athletes in all sports.

The delegation was also received by Handicapped Club Honorary President Al-Sheikha Sheikha Al-Abdallah Al-Sabah, Director General of Handicapped Affairs Public Authority Dr Tariq Al-Shatti, Handicapped Club Board members and athlete's families.
