KUWAIT: To address challenges, manage crises and diversify economies, the world needs to support epistemic modes of governance, said HH the Prime Minister of Kuwait Sheikh Ahmad Al-Nawaf Al-Sabah on Monday. In his speech to the World Government Summit held in Dubai, HH Sheikh Ahmad affirmed that the world is going through a delicate period that requires exceptional management of any given situation, whether it is improving economies or handling natural and manmade crises.

He noted that his country has taken confident steps toward realizing Kuwait's 2035 vision for development to transform it into a financial and commercial regional hub attracting global investments. HH the Prime Minister also affirmed that Kuwait has taken strides in the direction of digitizing government transactions and developing work, economic, environmental and social environments. He affirmed that the Kuwait plan is in line with the 2030 UN Sustainable Development Goals.

HH the Prime Minister remarked on the slogan of the current summit - Shaping Future Governments -saying it reflected a clear innovative vision for the world set by host country UAE. He commended the Emirati government on its high-level organization of this prestigious global event. The Kuwaiti premier said the current summit is held during a critical time in the world, extending during his speech condolences to the governments and people of both Turkey and Syria, which were affected by a devastating earthquake last Monday.

Returning to the issue of shaping future governments, HH the Prime Minister pointed out that knowledge revolution and digital transformation required from governments to step up their game and meet the ongoing challenges, whether financial, educational, etc. Failing to solve problems whether pertaining to the environment or international conflicts will lead to catastrophic consequences for the whole world, he added.

HH the Prime Minister highlighted a recent achievement by Kuwait, which came with the launch of the Kuwait Sat-1 satellite from Florida. He revealed the project was a success due to the three-year cooperation between Kuwait University and Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences (KFAS), adding that the Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Centre (MBRSC) and University of Colorado Boulder also played a part in the project, making it a successful international cooperation venture.

UAE President Mohammad bin Zayed Al-Nahyan received HH the Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad on Monday on the sidelines of the World Government Summit. HH Sheikh Ahmad conveyed the greetings of HH the Amir Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and HH the Crown Prince Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah to the UAE leadership, government and people. He also expressed his appreciation to the leadership of the UAE for hosting this global summit, especially in light of the regional and international challenges that require concerted efforts.

UAE Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai Sheikh Mohammad bin Rashid Al-Maktoum also received HH Sheikh Ahmad.
