KUWAIT: Kuwait's Ministry of Health said yesterday 619 people tested positive for the novel coronavirus in the past 24 hours while four persons died of COVID-19. Ministry spokesman Dr Abdullah Al-Sanad announced that total deaths reached 544 and registered infections increased to 89,582.

He said distribution of cases over health zones was as followed: 182 in Hawally, 128 in Ahmadi, 128 in the Capital, 108 in Farwaniya and 73 in Jahra. The ministry had announced earlier the recovery of 618 COVID-19 patients in the past 24 hours to reach a total of 80,521 recoveries. Dr Sanad said 94 people were in the intensive care units, while the number of people receiving treatment reached 8,517.

Dr Sanad said health care workers conducted 3,093 swab tests in the past 24 hours to increase the number of tests since the outbreak to 643,727. The health ministry official called on the public to remain vigilant and to abide by social distancing and hygienic rules. - KUNA
