KUWAIT: The State of Kuwait has played a key role in soothing hardships of the impoverished peoples of the world, affirmed the Acting National Assembly Speaker MP Abdullah Al-Tamimi. MP Tamimi made the assertion on the eve of Kuwait’s marking the United Nation’s World Humanitarian Day.

Tamimi said in a press statement that Kuwait had played an integral part in launching several humanitarian initiatives to make sure that the suffering and the pain felt by the disadvantaged and the needy worldwide would be lessened through its efforts in helping people around the globe.

He added that Kuwait’s various humanitarian campaigns; led by His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al- Sabah, resulted in UN honoring of Kuwait as a humanitarian center in 2014, and also naming His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah as a global humanitarian leader. He stated the need to maintain these kind of ethics and by-passing them on to next generations to learn to be aware of those who face danger and adversity and offer help.

“Nations are scaled by their contributions in science, and by development but never on humanitarian achievements, and as the great nations hold a permanent chair in the UN Security Council, Kuwait also leads the world in humanitarian realm,” he added. — KUNA
