VIENNA: The fight against illicit drugs should be a serious and collective endeavor, said a Kuwaiti diplomat yesterday, pointing out that his country is committed to all UN conventions against narcotics.

Kuwait is among the signatories of the three major UN conventions against drugs, its Ambassador to Austria and Permanent Envoy to the UN Sadiq Marafie said on the sidelines of a UN conference over the ill effects of drug addiction.

On the agenda for the talks is the issue of how youngsters can contribute towards the fight against drugs and other related matters, added the diplomat, thanking the UN for its efforts to keep such scourges at bay. International bodies and representatives of a number of countries, including Kuwait, have assembled for the talks. - KUNA
