KUWAIT: State Minister for Municipality affairs and State Minister for Communications and Information Technology Dr Rana Al-Fares said that the network development project will commence so as to increase the net speed to 1 GB as well as expanding the digital economy - making way for new job opportunities.

In her opening speech at the Smart Cities Conference, organized by the Information Technology Society through the Zoom application, she mentioned that CITRA has set out to speed up the development of the fixed network in Kuwait in order to achieve the main idea of the Smart Cities. The Smart Cities aims to connect roads, utilities, and public places using the latest advanced technologies to direct the digital economy to further develop and create more jobs.

Al-Fares also support new ideas and innovations to aid the project as the rest of the World is adapting to the same adding that the priority of these technologies must be in service of the citizens and it communities. The 2-day conference will identify the challenges the government and private sectors are facing in merging with the Smart Cities to achieve the main goals of mobility, digitization and coexistence. - KUNA
