KUWAIT: The Ministry of Interior has formed an investigation committee to uncover how an Asian man was able to stow away on a plane that was carrying the Ministry's Undersecretary General Sulaiman Al-Fahad and his accompanying delegation to an Interpol General Assembly meeting in Rwanda.

Deputy Premier and Interior Minister Sheikh Mohammad Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah has ordered the formation of the committee immediately after the stowaway was caught, the MOI's public relations department said in a press statement. The ministry will not tolerate those who failed to bear their responsibility and allowed such incidents to take place, it warned.

The man allegedly claimed he had snuck onto the plane in a bid to reach the United States. He was discovered as the plane was readying to take off and confessed when confronted. The pilot contacted the control tower and informed them that he wanted to abort the takeoff and return to the gate. The stowaway was referred to the security authorities and the plane was able to take off after half an hour, security sources said. The plane was located near the VIP hall at the airport, with a higher security detail used for state officials.
