KUWAIT: The College of Social Sciences at Kuwait University has recognized outstanding students as “Women and Environment Ambassadors,” in cooperation with the EU delegation to Kuwait. The students were the winners of a competition organized by the college and the EU delegation, called “The Role of Women in Environmental Policies in Kuwait”. The results of the competition were announced at an awards ceremony held by the two entities.

Acting Charge d’Affaires of the EU Delegation to Kuwait Irina Gusacenko said in a statement that the EU is committed to supporting Kuwait and bright Kuwaiti youngsters in their efforts to protect the environment and enhance the female role in environmental policies.

Acting Assistant Dean for Student Affairs at Kuwait University Dr Mohammad Al-Sahli said that raising awareness of climate change, highlighting the role of women in environmental policymaking and improving youth capabilities to preserve the environment are all vital.

The three winners authored papers that addressed females’ contribution to reducing the effects of climate change, including proposing solutions, recommendations and guidelines for Kuwait. – KUNA
