KUWAIT: More than 42,000 students have started their academic year at Kuwait University on Sunday - an increase of around 8,100 students from the previous academic year. The university has said that 42,136 students are currently studying at the university, while 8,134 freshman students are admitted this year and studying across 15 colleges.

The head of student affairs at the university, Dr Sami Al-Durai'i has congratulated all new students as well as continuing students along with the teaching and academic committees on the start of the new year.

"The students affairs team is ready to receive students through different planned activities and student services, on the development of their creative and mental skills and in preparation of a suitable climate for a college student and to increase the culture of communication, learning and competition through the encouragement of team spirit in different cultural, artistic, volunteer and sporting activities," Al-Durai'i said.

"The management has a complete list of activities and events arranged for the start of the academic year, with the first activity being a guide lecture for new students which was held in the college of management. Moreover, a supervising panel has been formed to overlook the election process at the university," he clarified.
