BEIRUT: Kuwait's Khaled Al-Mutairi powered his way to a gold medal in the men's amateur under 45 kilograms division of the Arab Taekwondo championship on Wednesday, while his counterpart Ghareeba Al-Saeed enjoyed similar success in the women's over 68 kg contest.

The pair of gold medals, in addition to two silver and bronze medals won by the Kuwaiti side, was hailed as an "achievement that met the team's goals," said Kuwaiti Taekwondo federation chief Hani Al-Mershad, dedicating the success to His Highness the Amir Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.

Commenting on the Kuwaiti side's performance, team coaches Waleed Al-Mershad and Mnaif Al-Daihani lauded the athletes' performance, highlighting their accomplishments as remarkable. - KUNA
