KUWAIT: Kuwaiti Olympian Fuhaid Al-Daihani shot several targets on Tuesday when he got a quota place that qualifies him for Brazil 2016 Olympics in the double trap event when he won the gold medal at the 13th Asian Shooting Championship. Al-Daihani who won the double trap bronze in Sydney 2000 and trap zone bronze in London 2012 Olympics beat the Chinese shooter Hu Bin Yuan, who took silver while Qatar’s Hamad Al-Merri took bronze. As the Chinese had already qualified for the Olympics earlier, Al-Merri qualified also.

Kuwait’s double trap team of Al-Daihani, Saad Al-Mutairi and Ahmad Al-Afasi won the gold medal while China came second and Qatar third.

China had strong showing in the rifle and pistol events as it got three gold medals by the world record holder Ye Siling, beating her compatriot Do Li, and Iran’s Narjes Imam Ghouli who ended in third place.

China’s Chi Mingyuo with the juniors 10M rifle event beat Singapore’s Hu Cheo Ye and Vietnam’s Ayuo Lki ly, meanwhile in the team’s event Iran was first followed by India and South Korea.

Tajikistan’s Malika Lagotinko won the 10M rifle event while the silver medal went to S Korea’s Chon Su Yuong and India’s Pratehi Ghadkari won third place.

South Korea’s team won first place for the team’s event followed by India and Thailand. China’s Jang Boyun won the gold medal of the 50M pistol for juniors, while Malaysia’s Abdelhadi Abdelmalek won silver and India’s Somed Kumar won the bronze. The team’s event was won by South Korea followed by India and Thailand.

Shooter Fuhaid Al-Daihani dedicated the gold medals to HH the Amir. He said competition was fierce and strong with the Chinese champions of champions, and was able to win at the end. Al-Daihani hoped that his medal qualifies him for Brazil 2016 Olympics, following the International Olympic Committee’s decision to consider the championship not qualifying for the games
