MANAMA: Senior General Advocate Abdulrahman Al Sayed said the Public Prosecution had charged Kuwaiti national Abdulhameed Abbas Hussain Dashti with involvement through coercion, complacency and assistance in illegal public fundraising in contravention of the Penal Code and the Public Fundraising Regulatory Law.
The prosecution referred the case against the suspect et alia to the Lower Criminal Court which on 15-12-2015 issued an executable two years jail sentence against him in absentia.
In compliance with the court verdict, the Public Prosecution on 7-1-2016 addressed the Judiciary Authority in the State of Kuwait to take its actions regarding notification to the convicted Abdulhameed Dashti about the court ruling. The prosecution is awaiting reply to confirm serving him notification about the court ruling.
The senior general advocate said once the verdict was publicized and time elapsed without the convict challenging the verdict, a final court ruling will be issued and the prosecution will accordingly take action to arrest the convict in compliance with the verdict which will be circulated internationally through the Interpol. —Agencies
