BRUSSELS: The Kuwaiti national Jet Ski team won one gold, two silver and one bronze medal at the Euro Jet-tribe Jetski Championship held in Belgium from July 4-8.

Kuwait's Ambassador to Belgium, the EU, NATO and Luxembourg, Jasem Al-Budaiwi, Monday welcomed the team to the Kuwait embassy and congratulated them on their win. He noted that the Kuwaiti team had an outstanding performance at the championship that was organized by the Belgian Jet Ski Federation near the town of Froidchapelle in southwestern Belgium.

"The embassy welcomed this team in line with its efforts to provide all sorts of services and facilities to various Kuwaiti delegations that visit Belgium, political, economic cultural, sports. We are here to help them to ease their stay here," Al-Budaiwi told KUNA.

"We are keen on promoting Kuwait's relations with Belgium in different fields. Sports is a sector where cultures and the youth can meet and exchange views and ideas in a very civilized and peaceful manner," he said.

On his part, Jet skier and team member Abdurrahman Al-Umar said that he won a gold medal in the pro-am runabout limited class.

"It was really a tough competition. It is the first time that I participated in this class. I am really happy that I won," he said.

On his part, teammate Salem Al-Mutawa said that he won the silver medal in the pro-am limited category and a bronze medal in pro-am stock category. Mohammad Ibrahim Burabia won the silver medal in the pro-GB category, which he said, "is the biggest and hardest category in the championships."
