Skeet shooter Sheikha Al-Rasheedi wins gold

KUWAIT: Strong competition was witnessed during HH the Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah's annual shooting tournament in the Skeet, Trap, Double Trap, 10m Pistol and Air Rifle, 50m Pistol and Rifle and Archery which was held at the Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Olympic Shooting Complex.

Kuwaiti female shooters performed well in their respective events to win medals. Results of the second day of the tournament are as follows:

10m Air Pistol Ladies:

Huthama Al-Baghly, Israa Bahman, Amira Awad

10m Air Rifle Ladies:

Mariam Erzouqi, Munira Al-Anjari, Mariam Al-Bughaili

Skeet Ladies:

Sheikha Al-Rasheedi, Iman Al-Shamma, Fatima Al-Zaabi

Trap ladies:

Sarah Al-Hawal, Shahad Al-Hawal, Hajar Abdelmalek.

President of Kuwait and Arab Shooting Federations thanked HH the Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah for his patronage of the tournament.

He said this tournament is a distinguished launch of the local sports season, adding that it witnessed strong competition between shooters be them from Kuwait or other brotherly countries.

Al-Otaibi lauded the efforts of the higher organizing committee and the officiating committee, in addition to the shooters and congratulated those who won and wished others best luck in the future.

Al-Otaibi said Kuwait Shooting Sport Club board members, will start preparations for HH the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah International Grand Prix in January, as many shooters including world champions and Olympians will participate.

Meanwhile Head of the Shotgun Officials Committee Hamad Al-Ruwaisan said as this tournament is winding down, preparations are being made for HH the Amir's tournament by courses prepared for referees and lectures by experts. Al-Ruwaisan said HH the Crown Prince witnessed strong competition between shooters of both genders, adding that there were no objections at all. Al-Ruwaisan said that the committee is keen on organizing refreshing courses for veterans and freshers, as part of preparing a second line of officials.

Skeet shooter Sheikha Al-Rasheedi who won gold medal and said she was happy with her achievements, adding this was a good start for the season which starts with a dear tournament to all, which is HH the Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad tournament. She said that this year's tournament witnessed unprecedented competition that reflected a notable improvement at the top level, which promises us that we will be able to compete at top level in international competitions as we are used to, especially that shooting represents Kuwait under its flag as the suspension was lifted on it.

Al-Rasheedi thanked HH the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, HH the Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, the government and Kuwait people for their continued support.
