KUWAIT: Kuwaiti bowler Mustafa Al-Musawi gave a good performance ending on top of the preliminaries of the 13th Kuwait Open Bowling Championship, as the preliminaries will end today evening before moving to the deciding rounds.

Al-Musawi was able to reach the best score from the fifth to the tenth round collecting 1,335 points out of 1,500 while Qatar's Abdelrahman Al-Juaidah scoring 1,311.

The twice United States Champion Greg Young was in third place with the score of 1,288, followed by the British legend, the former world champion and Europe Domonic Barrett with the score of 1,257 and Thai Napat Buspanikoknul with the score of 1,255. It is noted that the top 10 list included three Kuwaitis, Iyad Al-Amiri, Saleh Habeeb and Abdallah Ahmad.

Second place finisher in the 2017 world championship Ildemaro Ruiz ended in the 22nd place with 110 points, which reflects the strong competition between an elite group of world champions and professionals who are competing for prizes totaling $218,000.

Saudi player Prince Mohammad bin Sultan bin Saudi bin Adbelaziz in competitions held at the new Kuwait Bowling Center at the invitation of President of International and Asian Bowling Federations and Chairman of Bowling Club Sheikh Talal Al-Mohammad, and thanked him for the opportunity to participate in championships held in the Arabian Gulf region.

Prince Mohammad lauded the outstanding organization of both the Asian Championship and the Open. He described the new scoring system as good for those who can control their shots and results will be good, adding that as a new system it needs some time for training and practice to deal well with it.
Prince Mohammad said that "we are trying hard to perform in a way that reflects the true level of Gulf players who are occupying advanced places in this Kuwait Open.
