KUWAIT: Kuwait's crude refining capacity has stood at 736,000 barrel per day (bpd) after the closure of Shuaiba Refinery, a senior Kuwait Petroleum Corporation (KPC) official said. KPC's DCEO for Projects Abdullah Al-Ajmi made the statement to the press on the sidelines of the oil sector's 2017-2018 forum on human resources that kicked off yesterday.

Meanwhile, Ajmi added that by the end of February the rate of achievement at the Biofuel project hit 93.2 percent. Workforce at the project has hit highest level, 51,000 people. Work is proceeding by leaps and bounds at the project and its units will be handed over for actual operation this summer, he noted.

KPC's CEO Nizar Al-Adsani earlier addressed the forum and stressed the prime significance of investing in the promising Kuwaiti youth, quoting His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah as saying: "the true wealth of our country lies in its youth, who are the core and the pillar of future prosperity."

Adsani added that the form has become a landmark effort of the KPC and its subsidiaries that seeks to benefit the Kuwaiti youth working for the oil sector. The organizer committee of this 8th forum, themed "factors of success," was keen to attract many of the world's top management specialists, leaders and veterans, for participants to benefit from their distinctive successful experiences through the forum's workshops and exhibitions, the CEO said.

Adsani stressed the vital role played the human resources development departments at oil companies as the main tool for investing in humans. Several achievements have been made, he said, adding that more projects would come into existence in the future in line with initiatives of the oil sector's human resources development strategy till 2040. - KUNA
