KUWAIT: Kuwait Premier League "Zain league" will starts its 61st edition (2022/2023) on Thursday with two matches. The first match is between Al-Naser facing Al-Arabi in Ali Sabah Al-Salem stadium, while the second match will have Al-Salmiya facing Al-Tadhamoun in Thamer stadium. On Friday, last year's champions Kuwait Club will host the match versus Al-Jahraa Club while Al-Qadisya will face Al-Shabab in Al-Shabab stadium. The first round will conclude on Saturday when Kazma will face Al-Fahaheel in Al-Sadaqa Wal Salam stadium. The premier league consists of 10 teams on a two leg home-away style competition with the teams spread into two groups.

The six highest ranking teams will then play another round of home-away matches in order to have a winner. The last four teams will play to determine the two lowest ranking teams to move to the first league. The Kuwaiti Premier league began its first edition in 1961/62 season, with the most winners being Al-Arabi, Al-Qadisya and Kuwait Club - with 17 championships each. Salmiya and Kazma come second with 4 championships each and 1 championship for Al-Jahraa.
